“I also wanted to try, in a new way, the sculptural technique of ‘removing’. This process starts with enormous rough blocks of glass, blocks weighing up to a thousand kilos, which require a programmed cooling phase lasting around 18 months. It is my childhood aspiration: to start from the formless and arrive at the defined. I had to invent rudimentary tools and, with them, I attacked the glass as if it were marble.”
