“After years of trial and error, I realized that a profound knowledge of the material was essential, indispensable. You cannot shape glass without knowing it, and knowing it meant understanding its physical-chemical makeup, its organic quality, but also its history. The research was long and arduous, but I had a furnace available for my experiments.

“I wanted to first test the various types and colorations of glass. I worked with passion and, to broaden my knowledge, I visited the most important glass museums in the world. I moved back and forth between experimenting in the furnace and studying books on art history… Why couldn’t glass become, even more completely, sculpture?”
