It is difficult to explain the process to those who have never seen me at work. I will say that one of these techniques is based on the sensitivity of balancing the hot glass as it slowly descends due to the force of gravity. Here’s how it works: I hold it in place and at the same time control the sliding of the large blown mass and, as this happens, I manage to shape it into the desired form. It all happens very quickly but also with the concerted help of assistants, following a precise plan. This is how my kites were born, shapes that expand in space like a manta ray in water. The material frees itself of its weight, floats, stretches sinuously, opens its wings. To put it precisely: it flies.”
