Accademia Bridge

The news, just released, of a joint ENI-OLIVETTI initiative is making the rounds of newsrooms across half of Italy, attracting justified, if unexpected, attention. With the intelligent and timely support of the Superintendency of Artistic and Historical Heritage of Venice, the two companies, which have never lacked originality of ideas and creative commitment in enriching their respective images with interventions and proposals, have opted for an official presentation to the press on Wednesday 20 February at the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice in Venice, of Luciano Vistosi’s work and the revolutionary, indeed exceptional project that was made possible by the artist’s idea: an artistic but also design model, made entirely of glass, of the Accademia Bridge, giving rise to a world premiere that will even precede the global premiere in March in Tsukuba, Japan, near Tokyo, on the occasion of the inauguration of the major international exhibition. “

Arsenale Bridge

Letter from Massimo Cacciari

Dear Vistosi,

The glass bridge at the Arsenale is an extraordinary “idea” in the literal sense, something that is truly visually striking. It could become a symbol of a Venice that wants to renew itself, but renew itself from within, without stepping outside itself – drawing on its inexhaustible capacity for metamorphosis to face new stories – to continue sailing.

The municipal administration that I lead will certainly support this initiative, with various locations for the work if the one you have in mind at the Arsenale proves impractical. But I hope that this will not be the case. I hope that the whole city will understand the importance of your proposal and support it wholeheartedly.

With my warmest regards,

Massimo Cacciari
